From Fear to Love: My Journey of Healing and Transformation

My mom passed away at the age of 55 after about 15 years of excessive alcohol abuse. It all started when I was around ten years old. My way of coping was to shut down my feelings and mistrust everyone, including myself.

Then, about sixteen years ago, on the age of fourty, I started meditating. Slowly, the big wall I had built around myself began to break down. It was a difficult and sometimes painful process, and it took a long time to get to where I am now.

But the real breakthrough came last year. One morning, I woke up and felt a deep peace, the same peace I used to feel before the trouble with my mom began. Instinctively, I knew this was good news. Not long after, I finally picked up A Course in Miracles. The book had been sitting on my shelf for over a year, waiting for me.

From the very first pages, everything in the Course felt like coming home.

Because I made the shift from fear to love so consciously, I realized something important: I can use my experience to help others, to help them make the same shift. And in my view, ACIM is the perfect way to do this.

If you’re interested in the Course but feel skeptical about the language it uses, I invite you to keep an open mind. Visit the website of the Foundation for Inner Peace and read about their mission, about how they interpret the Christian terms used in the Course.

As for me, I am choosing to trust that God will unfold the path ahead. And with every breath, every moment, I will keep asking: How can I help?

Thank you for your attention.

Jacco
